An Extended Song of Our People: AESOP brings a public music
and performance space to travelers on Chicago’s South Side. AESOP is the first of its kind
public broadcast studio/disc jockey (DJ) booth located in the CTA’s 95th Street Red Line Station.
The dedicated 200 square foot space inside the North Terminal was designed by artist and creative spacemaker Theaster Gates,
providing riders with real-time programming, including an on-site DJ, broadcast over the 95th Street Station’s public address system. The programming consistently reflects the rich cultural history of Black
Chicago.
Public music has been curated for travelers on Chicago’s South Side by DJ/radio personality and author Ayana Contreras for travelers since 2019, just blocks from her family’s home.

DJs spin each Monday morning from 7am-10am, first Wednesday afternoons from 3pm-6pm, and Friday afternoons from 3pm-6pm seasonally, from May 30 through the end of October.
The AESOP Booth is located in the North Terminal of the Chicago Transit Authority 95th Street Red Line Station, 14 W. 95th St., Chicago, IL 60620
